Doober Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Have a good time of a day to everyone!!! I've installed engine and connected almost everything but a few wires? I couldn't find appropriate sockets. Have anyone any idea where are these wires from? Also i coudn't identify 2 sensors from pic 1, and pic 2. and final question is about vacuum tubes. I posted pic with my troubles. Any help will be highly appriciated!!! Quote
Doober Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 PS. I've alredy tried to start the engine. I connected sensor on pic 2 to vacuum tube and connected vac tube to fuel press relief valve. Engine started very boldly and ran very smoothly . It was the first time engine run after i assembled it! IRONDOG442 Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 3rd picture is the evap purge solenoid Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 4th picture is the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Last picture that goes to the evap purge solenoid, the charcoal canister, the return line to the fuel tank, and the other side goes to a port on the intake that has vacuum Quote
ManicMechanic Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 2nd pic (triangular connector) is EGR valve connector... Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 thats what I thought Jay but it looks way different on the newer cars. Quote
per0781 Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 took all my answers nice sig captain Quote
Doober Posted January 10, 2008 Author Report Posted January 10, 2008 Thank you very much for replies. I bumped into another questions: by 1st pic: where the coolant temp sensor is located? by 2nd pic: EGR system was totally amputated from the car before it became mine. If the engine will be runnin' well in case i leave this wire unconnected? Where the evaporator canister is located? Quote
hell_raiser Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 the car will run with out the egr connected. less mpg though and check engine light too pic one kinda looks like the tps sensor conector? Quote
Doober Posted January 10, 2008 Author Report Posted January 10, 2008 the car will run with out the egr connected. less mpg though and check engine light too pic one kinda looks like the tps sensor conector? Throttle body has connected by another 2 wires(2 pigtailes):TPS and idler air control i suppose. Quote
ns87 Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 for the vacuum tubes, http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php/topic,61171.msg726378.html#msg726378 I think that will help Quote

To understand vac diagramm absolutely clearly i reprinted it on the "paint". Correct me pls if i made any mistakes. I suppose component location on all w-body cars are similar to 1 another. My car is '91 Buick Regal limited 3,1 PS i still can not find temperature sensor located in the front part of engine compartment(left side). I found one under the throttle, but it seems that there must be another one, am i right? Quote
19GT92 Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 The car will not run without the egr hooked up my 92 had the egr go out and i tried to rest the ecm and unhook the pigtail and it would not run Quote
Doober Posted January 11, 2008 Author Report Posted January 11, 2008 The car will not run without the egr hooked up my 92 had the egr go out and i tried to rest the ecm and unhook the pigtail and it would not run What i guess about possibile engine operating without EGR, and analysed upper posts. (EGR was removed from the car and all coresponding inteke manifold outlets: there is a blank plate instead of EGR main valve, sealed with glue or sealant) Proper EGR sensors (in my Cougar there are EGR pressure sensor, EGR control valve) should be connected, otherwise Check Engine lamp light on, mpg is going to get worse. If on of EGR sensors are connected and EGR pressure is incorrect, or EGR control is without vacuum connection (EGR valve is out of operating) - Check Engine lamp are going to lit on too. Mpg got worse subsequently. So, there is no difference if the sensor is connected or not - Anyway ECM captures a fault in the Emission control system. Engine operates normally if there are no leaks of vacuum from the intake. Am i right? Quote
Doober Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 Have a good time of a day!!! Most of problems seems to be solved, but 1 is still exist! One connector (3 wire), located in the left front part of engine compartment is still unconnected. Engine runs well, but "low coolant" appears on the instrument (coolant level is OK), and engine temperature gauge is out of moving. Could somebody advice, if this is 2 concerning problems, and maybe somebody knows, where is located IT, what must be connected with this wire? PS sorry for my bad english, any help will be appreciated! Quote
ns87 Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 could you take a picture zoomed out a bit more? Is that near the radiator? Quote
Doober Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 could you take a picture zoomed out a bit more? Is that near the radiator? i'll try to take. This wire is between the engine and the radiator. Quote
GP1138 Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 I very much like your turns of phrase, Doober. Are you Russian? I was thinking that might be for the A/C compressor, but I can't remember what shape that connector is. Quote
ns87 Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 See if its the low coolant sensor! It plugs in right on the edge of the radiator facing the engine Quote

mfewtrail Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 engine temperature gauge is out of moving. If the temperature gauge isn't moving, you likely don't have it hooked up either. The coolant temperature sender for the gauge in the instrument panel/cluster is located on the rear cylinder head. It's on the right side corner of the head if you are facing the front of the car. It will have only one wire attached to it, so it's not hard to spot. I believe the wire going to the sender is usually bright green in color. Quote

I will try to take zoomed pic of the sensor before weekends (i have opportunity to repair my ride just on weekends), if i will not find the connector. Quote
Doober Posted January 21, 2008 Author Report Posted January 21, 2008 Hello! These are clear pics of unknown wire. Quote
