Oil pressure sending unit problems are a common problem on the V-8 engines; could easily be the same sending unit on those guys, too. I've had to replace the sending unit twice on my work truck. The gauge gradually reads lower and lower; you'd think the engine is wiped. Replacing the sending unit "adds" 30 psi of oil pressure. Corroded wiring can have the same effect; I would not suspect a grounding issue at the sending unit--if the sending unit is screwed in properly, it won't lose it's ground. GM dropped the oil gauge starting on '93 Luminas because the gauge fluctuated and people thought there was a problem. There was a service bulletin covering that issue. The oil gauge was replaced with a voltmeter which was probably a good thing--the alternator is more likely to give problems than the engine.
