roomylumy
I assume this is the proper category for this. I don't imagine it is an easy job to do, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips to make it easier to change the gas tank on a 1990 Lumina. I have a leak near the top so I will probably run 1/2 tanks of fuel and do it in the warmer weather, but I'm trying to prepare in case it gets worse. jeremy
The removal procedure is very straight forward and easy to do. There is a thread in the FAQ about fuel pump replacement that has the removal procedure for that tank

Addicted To Boost
I replaced the gastank on my 89 Grand Prix SE a month ago and it was fairly easy. Just try to drain as much as fuel out of the tank or run it down as far as you can so you have an empty gastank to work with. The whole replacement is pretty straightforward. Also wear safety glasses- rust falling in your eyes is not pleasant!

Addicted To Boost
Oh yeah- my 18 year old filler tubes sucked to get back on...
Q-Ball
Anyone know where to get a new filler neck? My tanks been changed, but I'd really like to get a new filler neck. I was told they cant get them and I know of people just cutting where its bad and using a rubber hose.
mfewtrail
Oh yeah- my 18 year old filler tubes sucked to get back on... Mine was easy to put back on, but tough to remove due to the limited space in that area.
Slade901
I have a crack on gas tank before. I dropped the gas tank. Emptied the gas. Filled my gas tank with water and emptied it. I did it 3 times. Filled the gas tank 1/2 with water. Used the gas combo welder you get from Walmart and soldered the crack. Fixed it.
