RYS
As the title says, my Cutlass has started to make a loud noise when it engages into gear from park or neutral. I was thinking tie rod ends but what else should I look at?
1990lumina
Transmision mount/lower engine mount. Mine are both fubared and I have a cracking sound when accelerating, and reverse to drive.
RYS
This is VERY loud kind of embarrassing. I'll have to take a look at that mount while someone puts it in gear.
ns87
part of that sound was solved for me after the lower motor mount. I was going to replace the transmission mount but never had the patience to do that too
19Cutlass94
yupp one of the mounts. Unless something else is very wrong but doubtful.
Chancho
id go with the lower engine mount, and that needs to be done asap because it can be bad if the mount goes out on you while your driving
z34Phoenix
i've had similar sounds and they are from the front brake pads sliding or moving slightly in the caliper
RYS
I looked under the hood and had someone put it in gear while holding the brake. The engine moves alot and it seems like the 2 top mounts that bolt to the rad support are shot.
charged 3.1
Upper torque mounts are shot i would say. mine did the same thing when i bought the car.
RYS
I know this thread is ancient. But, the fluid filled transmission mount was busted and leaking. I replaced all of the engine/transmission mounts and everything was good as new.
