mfewtrail
have you ran it at the track yet? just curious as to what it'll do or get us some videos of you cruising round' in it
timg
Actually, I'm planning on running it at Douglas Motorsports Park soon. There will hopefully be some guys from CO there also. I won't make any predictions because it's 4800 ft and I'll have to wait until I run it to see if my transmission will be in the mood to shift from 1-2 (not a common occurrence anymore). By the spring, I will hopefully be doing something about the tranny and will probably add more boost at that time. Once that is done I'll try to get more #'s. AWeb80
Hey Tim, Instead of "doing work to the tranny", just freaking throw in a new HD or something.........btw, will the 4T65-HD fit your engine?
timg
Hey Tim, Instead of "doing work to the tranny", just freaking throw in a new HD or something.........btw, will the 4T65-HD fit your engine? The 4T65e will fit the engine, BUT requires OBD2 and I'm OBD1. The auto currently on the market that I know of that could hold up to this engine (for another 100k miles) is the Intense 4T65e. I could get a new 4T60E-HD or have mine rebuilt with shift kits and the like, but it's still a gamble if it would hold or not. If not it would be a very expensive test. However, there are a few manuals that just might work... I'm still deciding which way I want to go, but once I do I don't expect to have any more problems. BTW: My turbo has been running 5 psi non-intercooled for 5k miles and 7 psi intercooled for 10k more miles. My engine and tranny are both 100% stock with over 130k miles on them. The tranny started slipping after doing my intake and exhaust (the dyno results showed a 30 hp gain at redline) about 50k miles ago so I think I'm doing okay! The turbo has just made the tranny situation a little worse, it didn't actually cause it. Tim
AWeb80
Well shit, if your getting a new tranny, I'd vote for the getrag 284, you got the power, now make it faster with a manual
91GranSport
All I can say is... ...HOLY FUCK!!! Son of a bitch, you have a TRUE monster on your hands! From the discussions we've had earlier, I already know the 3.4L Twin Cam is a strong performance, although it lacks the low end torque that the 3800 TPI V-6 and 3800 Series II have. However, with a turbo I'm sure you'll have power off the line, at least enough to put you on par with L67 equipped Gen2 W-Body cars! Shit! Now I want one of those! I just hope the 3.4L Twin Cam can handle the added stress of the turbo. I can't wait to see you smoke 5.0L Mustangs and all of that. Christ, what a cool set up! Now I want to turbo my 3800 TPI V-6! AWeb80
5.0L Mustangs Don't you mean 5.slows.
Jcrow
Have you hooked up a scan tool to see if there is knock while under boost? I am asking because I am about to turbocharge my 3.1 and concerned if the computer will retard the timing enough when there is detonation

timg
this page connot be found sorry about that. All of my pics are over on http://www.mymonte.com in the photo galleries. The turbo pics are under Engine and Drivetrain Pics - 3.4 DOHC I have not hooked up a scan tool to determine knock retard. Tim
Jcrow
Are you using larger fuel injectors and/or an fmu?
timg
Right now I'm running a Walbro fuel pump, FMU, and mini-AFC. I'm planning on putting in some MUCH larger injectors when I redo my intercooler piping. Hopefully then I can take off the FMU and use just the mini-AFC and injectors to get the fueling right. timg
heya Tim did you ever get your Monte to the Douglas track? I wish. I went by there twice. The first day the told me to come back in a day for a tech inspection. A day later I came back and they coundn't do it. I'm really hoping to get it out this summer. Right now I'm driving a 2004 Honda S2000 I bought. I have the majority of the parts I need to turbo it(including AEM standalone). That's my priority(since it's with me and the Monte is with my parents 2 states away). As winter comes closer, I'll swap out for the Monte and it'll get a wideband O2, bigger injectors, and redone intercooler piping to place the MAF after the BOV. Hopefully sometime later this summer when I pick it up I'll be able to drag it. What's going on with your 3.1 turbo project? Are you up in Gillette now, or still down in Laramie? I'm in Rifle, CO now and my folks are in Spearfish, SD. I'm actually headed back there this weekend! tim

Are you up in Gillette now, or still down in Laramie? I'm in Rifle, CO now and my folks are in Spearfish, SD. I'm actually headed back there this weekend! tim right now i'm in the middle of alot of work with my Turbo GTS. i have the 2.2 Turbo 2 engine on the stand in my garage. i'm not rebuilding it, just resealing everything, new oil pump, new clutch etc. i'm hoping for high 14's when i get the engine back in, hopefully in about 2 weeks or so. then i can finally start on my 3.1 Turbo project. i found one of the pistons in my TGP motor had melted/cracked rings so i have to completely rebuild that engine first. in the meantime i'm going to throw all of my TGP engine parts on my NA 3.1, and run it till it blows i have no use for it anyway, and i'm not going to store/keep it so i might as well have some fun with it and experiment. anyways i should be moving back to Laramie for school within the next month sometime, i can't wait. try to stop by when you're in Gillette if you can, i'll PM you my phone #. i'd like to see that S2000
