TURBOLUMINA
Local tranny shops have only been able to find bearing and seal kits. Any one know where i can find blockers and synchro kits?

Andrew
i have always heard/been told that those trans have to be sent to getrag for rebuild. i dont know of anyone who has successfully rebuilt it themselves.

IRONDOG442
Miko K defies logic and physics everyday though !!!
Bake82
Didnt Miko K rebuild his? Turbo luminaz has the Getrag 284. Miko K and a few others have rebuilt 282's, but the 284 which was put behind the 3.4 DOHCs have to be sent to Getrag directly to be rebuilt. White93z34
I'd sure love to find such parts! I have yet to, hell even Jasper cannot offer reman Getrag 284s, ALSO GM no longer has the exchange program for the 284!

Bake82
It's CHEAP right now....but has reserve...bet he wants big $$.......Wonder if the parts would work inside a 282??
TURBOLUMINA
So i have a project for someone who has more time than me.......I recently saw a 6 speed trans from a G6 on the internet for sale.....The bell housing looks fairly close to what works on the 2.8-3.8 gm V6. Should we be trying to figure out if this trans will bolt to our engines, and what will it take to make it work? Especially because that transmission is readily available for $400 bucks. And we get another gear!
Bake82
For one, you'd need to figure out axles, clutch system, pedal set up. You'd need to make sure that everything will bolt up and in (tranny mount).
TURBOLUMINA
not worried about modifying subframes, thats cake work. Just a wire feed welder and some steel fixes that. the most important part is, is the bellhousing pattern the same, and is the input shaft long enough to reach the flywheel. I can have axles made

TURBOLUMINA
have you physically bolted it up? And make the measurements to see if input shaft is correct length? Also what type of clutch does it use, is it pull or push style throwout bearing?
ismellrealbad
nope i didnt do that its not my pic. i have no idea about the to bearing or input shaft
gpchris
the 6speed has been done on a 3.4, You'll need custom everything though. I think the flywheel was the main problem, but theres still axels etc.
Miko K
Miko K defies logic and physics everyday though !!! I can even fly when I take my clothes off. Wanna see? I only replaced all the bearings and seals and converted the clutch fork to ball bearings, since the needle bearings destroyed it. The rest looked good, so I didn't bother. TURBOLUMINA
Care to elaborate? Who did it? And how do i find out how to contact them cause i would really like to do it.

TURBOLUMINA
I AM SO GONNA SWAP A 6 SPEED IN MY NASTY TURBO Z34!!!! Thanks for the thread gpchirs!
19Cutlass94
From what? a G6 6speed tranny? I would leave the getrag 5spd in. Weighs less and better gear ratios. The 6th gear in those tranny's are worthless. Its like overdrive on steriods it drops the RPMs wayyy to much.
gpchris
I AM SO GONNA SWAP A 6 SPEED IN MY NASTY TURBO Z34!!!! Thanks for the thread gpchirs! Sweet dude, keep me updated. This is a swap I've always wanted to do. I actually liked the gearing..
TURBOLUMINA
The 6 speed weighs more cause its stronger. And the gearing isnt terribly far off. The point of 6th is strickly highway gas mileage. 1st is USELESS in my car any ways cause once the turbo spools, i instantly hit the 7500 rpm fuel cut, then i spin all the way through second. So im sure the same will happen with the new trans. Besides, im SOOOOOOO sick of my getrag cause you cant get shit for it. IM tired of sourcing transmissions that last 2 months then start grinding like the last one!
