Addicted To Boost Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Has anyone here made coilovers for their Gen 1 W-body? Or does anyone make a complete set? I'm working on making a rear set of coilovers for my TGP and I would like a front set as well. Quote
Bake82 Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 http://www.heldmotorsports.com/WBody/index.htm GTP_MUNKY has both front/rear on his car and has good reviews! Quote
Addicted To Boost Posted December 27, 2007 Author Report Posted December 27, 2007 Anyone know how much they cost? I'm looking to see if they would cost less to assemble myself or buy the complete set... that is if anyone makes parts for a front coilover setup Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 I was told about $600 for fronts from them when I e-mailed them. I dont know what GTP_MUNKY actually paid. Quote
Addicted To Boost Posted December 27, 2007 Author Report Posted December 27, 2007 Wow thats spendy. I know I can make a set of rear coilovers for less than $200. Is there anyone out there that makes parts for front coilovers? Quote

Stage 2 only includes the KYB struts, and I HIGHLY doubt he is charging $275 for 2 struts! and if he is, go buy stage 1 and get KYB's yourself through tirerack or rockauto. But he might have charged $600 when they first came out?? I dunno.. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Jason, Our front coil overs come with different springs. The front is strong enough to support this, as the coil over springs are supported at the same point as the stock spring at the top. The price of the stage 2 is $650 for the front and $495 for the rear. The front includes modified blasted and powder coated housings, coil over kit is assembled, new KYB strut inserts, spring rate of your choice. The rear comes with new KYB struts assembled with coil overs. We can do both front and rear for $1,050. Regards, Lee Waldmiller HT Motorsports He must have changed prices then... This was 4-3-06 when I e-mailed him Quote
Euro Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Jesus christ $625 for front's only Quote

He told me it's $325 for fronts and $290 for the rear Stage 1 Nov 5/07. He must have dropped his prices. I can't imagine too many people would have paid what he wanted before! Quote

Its ok, I didnt take it like that. But yeah he must have dropped his prices. After he told me that I havent talked to him since, as many people have probably done Im sure. The prices he told you are actually pretty damn good. He must have sold enough to lower price or something I duno, but either way price has gone down. I would say maybe some day Id invest in a set of front coilovers but Im happy with the ST springs that I have. Quote
xtremerevolution Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 I would hope those prices would have dropped. These days only true 1st gen w-body enthusiasts will deck the money to build up car that old, assuming they've taken great care of it since they bought it. Most everyone will be just fine with $80 for ST springs and another $120 or so for KYB GR2's and be done with it. Quote

At the time most of us 1st gens were lowering our cars, we didnt have the option. It was a choice of 3 springs in which you cant get 2 of them anymore. There was no front coilover option at that time. Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 Sorry guys, been away from the board with family junk. Those prices all seem about right, I don't have my invoices handy right now. Here is an e-mail I got from him. I only ended up going with Stage 1 Sent: Mon, 9 Oct 2006 10:05 PMSubject: Re: Prices? Jamie, Stage 1 front is $350, Stage 2 is $650, this includes modified factory strut housings, coil over hardware, spring rate of your choice and KYB inserts. Stage 1 for the rear is $290 and Stage 2 is $490. All coil overs come with spring rates to match your driving style. Let me know if you have any further questions. Regards, Lee Waldmiller HT Motorsports As you see, he will adjust spring rates for you. Mine are 350 in the front and 300 in the rear. The problem I ran into with building my own was the upper mounts, front and rear. I don't have tha facilities and no one just makes genaric mounts that would work properly, in my opinion anyways. By the time I had custom uppers made around my area, it was going to cost me less to buy them from Lee. I also ordered the trailing arms and lateral links from Lee, in the end my order was in the $1300 range. And I'd do it again in a heart beat. Jamie Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 I still need some lateral links! Quote
Mr_Efficiency Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 How are us pre 95 guys susposed to get around our steering arm issue? Can we just use a shorter spring and put the sleve against the steering arm or is there some way to convert to 95 steering that isnt to crazy.... actually i cant see that being to bad of a job.... the basic shell is still the same right? everything should bolt up, it would just be a lot of work. I'm not to farmiliar with the W body but i cant see it being anymore than swaping front hubs, rack and possibly steering shaft from a 95+ car... maybe the sub frame as well. Anyone know if this can be done? or a way around not doing it, lol Quote
