CutSupreme93
i just replaced the alternator and when i did so i removed the belt tensioner by accident to remove the belt. i put everything back together but there is a squeaking coming from somehwere around the tensioner and the belt did not tighten up. did i put the belt tensioner on wrong or is it just shot or do i have another problem? jeremy
how are u suppost to install it or is there not any specific way? well if you tightened it down and it isn't in the location that it should be that would be a problem....if it looks like it is in the right location then it could be bad.....I have always just replaced the tensioner when I replaced the belt out of habit. Chancho
you need to verify that you installed the tensioner on right, and if infact you did then verify a strong tension on the belt if there isnt one then replace the tensioner, if there is then you might need a new belt

joey b
I think you have to some how load a force on the spring. I really don't remember. I do think that there are little teeth that I had to latch into the block and then rotate the tensioner and press the tensioner the rest of the way in. At its resting position is there a spring force on the tensioner? There should be.
