GrandPrixII Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 I'm looking for the 16" Crosslace Grand Prix wheels and am wondering if they come in two different styles. I found a car at the local junk yard has a set but they are all silver, and my neighbor has one but the centers are gold and the outside looks polished which would be perfered. Quote
ManicMechanic Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 Silver...Gold...Red...White...Blue... Quote
GP1138 Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 Black crosslaces are custom... and look sick. I have silver ones with very corroded clearcoat. They are decent looking though. Quote
GrandPrixII Posted December 22, 2007 Author Report Posted December 22, 2007 But is the outside polished? I swear my neighbors is, but the one at the jy painted all silver. Quote
mra32 Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 Whats the difference between the GP x-laces and the Bonne x-laces (the ones that look the same, not the twisty ones). It looks like the lip might be smaller. Is there an offset difference and/or width difference? Quote

It looks like the lip might be smaller. Is there an offset difference and/or width difference? I believe the Bonne ones are 7 or 7.5" wide, and the GP ones are definitely 8". I was considering picking up a set of PERFECT j/y Bonne wheels for my old car, but I balked when I found out they aren't as wide. I love the 8" ones on my GP now. Quote
ManicMechanic Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 The Bonne wheels have a different backspacing as well and i believe they will rub the calipers. Quote
Crazy K Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 The Bonne wheels have a different backspacing as well and i believe they will rub the calipers. you took the quote right outta my digits. They will NOT fit on W-bodies, they have less than an inch of backspacing. Quote
GrandPrixII Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 Went today and they are using the wheels for stands. So much for that. Quote

Addicted To Boost Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 hi all, i have a 1990 GPT Actually the correct term for it is a TGP. Just lettin ya know that now so you don't get flamed for it later. Quote
GrandPrixII Posted December 29, 2007 Author Report Posted December 29, 2007 Four more GPs in and only 5-spokes on em, the hunt is still on. Quote

They were pretty bad when i got them, and let me tell you. Its a bitch! You gotta sand the clearcoat and keep stepping up the grit of the sandpaper and when you get sufficiently high (I'm going to 2000 grit) you can hit them with a polishing wheel and polishing compound. Then they should shine like a mirror. Quote
mfewtrail Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 The Bonne wheels have a different backspacing as well and i believe they will rub the calipers. They do hit the calipers. You could run them with spacers, but that's not worth the trouble IMO. 1/4'' spacers with them would *almost* clear, but not quite. I'm guessing you could fit them with 1/4'' spacers if you're willing to grind on the caliper some. Quote
