radiopat
I heard rumors that if you remove the MAF sensor that the engine performance would increase. Also, that if the EGR valve was removed and blocked I would never have problems with carbon in the tb or intake manifold. Any of this true? If so at what cost, meaning will I have increased emissions and/or poorer fuel economy? Thanks.
GnatGoSplat
You can't just remove the MAF sensor. The MAF sensor also contains the IAT. You can upgrade to the Speed Density MEMCAL (PROM) which will disable the MAF sensor, then if you want you can bust out the honeycomb screen in the MAF. If you really want to remove the MAF entirely, you could buy an IAT and wiring pigtail from a junked car and splice it into the appropriate wires. Either way, you'll need the Speed Density MEMCAL. Blocking off the EGR will reduce carbon in the TB and intake, but you'll still get crud buildup from the PCV system. Blocking off the EGR will increase NOx emissions and reduce spark advance, but I don't think it will hurt performance.
Robby1870
disabling the EGR wont hurt or increase performance. It does keep the intakes cleaner. However, you cant just unplug it. You would have to have a custom chip burned to disable the EGR Robby
