RangeStang
Ok so I have a 95 GP with the 3100 in it I plan on using nitrous on it but it needs a new exhaust. So my question is what would be better 2 1/2 exhaust or 2 1/4? I have a 3400 that is going in it after I blow up the 3100. For the people that have the 2 1/2 inch exhaust did you loose any low end because that is what I here if you go 2 1/2 inch. I'm confused please give advice. BIGBULS
Step 1............ Make SURE you have somebody fab up a GOOD exhaust. You can run 2.5in piping until the cows come home, but if it's crush bent shit from Midas, you will have less flow than a proper MANDREL bent 2.25in setup. ENSURE you don't just go to the corner muffler shop. Mandrel bends can be bought CHEAP online (Jegs, Summit, any of those places), and a set of good, free flowing STRAIGHT THROUGH mufflers (perforated core of course) can be had from MANY vendors (Dynomax's Ultraflow line, just about ANYTHING from Magnaflow or Borla etc etc etc). Step 2)........... 2.5in. A 3100 *may* suffer a little right off the bottom end, but W's already have a nice 2700rpm stall convertor and 3.33 gears...............MUCH better than some of the GM cars out there. 2.25in won't hurt you NOW (and, as mentioned, may be a touch better down low), but 2.5 will be best once your 3400 and nitrous go on. Thanks for the reply I was going mandrel pipe I have a buddy that owns his own muffler shop. can anyone say cheap! probably just going to cost me the parts. He is also going to teach me to weld. I already have a hooker areo chamber muffler what do you think of them? it is 3in. though any thoughts on that? I figured 2.5 would be better for the 3400 also. 19Cutlass94
I have 2.5" exhaust. Stay away from anything 3". Its wayyyy to big for our N/A motors.
RangeStang
What about 2.5in. all the way except the muffler that is what I was talking about.
19Cutlass94
Keep the whole exhaust 2.5" for an N/A motor.
