pontiacmaniac94 Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 so i went ahead and got some rear buckets outta of 1988 Cutlass, they are grey with the striping on em, look okay, close to what i already had. my question: can i just drill gun-ho into the floor for the new center console in the rear? i know the gas tank is pretty much below it, but i wasnt sure if i go get away with drillin new holes, or if i did that i would be having a bad time. i will post up pics after i get the center console all set up.....and i am not gonna lie, the car looks pretty dang awesome with em in! i just need to get that back cover for the doggy door to the trunk..... thanks in advance guys, you havent let me down yet, so i will keep em coming! jeremy Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 I wouldn't drill into the floor, the tank is immediately under it....... Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 Your best bet is to use cold weld to weld brackets or nuts to the floor then bolt down to them. The gas tank is just on the other side of the floor. If you drill through the floor your guarenteed to go through the tank too. Personally I think the older center console looks like ass in the 94-96 GPs, it doesn't match the interior. I just left it out of mine and am in the process of hacking up a couple 95 front consoles to make a new rear one. I just have no where to work on it now so the project got put on hold. Jamie Quote
Chancho Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 if you drill ur gunna have a very big problem, just jb weld the brackets on, a few have done this on the forum, just do a search there will be pics and all Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 x2 on the jb weld. You'd be surprised at how strong that stuff is. Quote
