Crazy K Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I know it would be a hot cake. anyone have any tips or links on what I should do to start replicating? Quote
3.1cutlass Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I would get measurements of the pace car bumper first. Then buy a bunch of SL bumpers and modify them. Quote
Crazy K Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I would get measurements of the pace car bumper first. Then buy a bunch of SL bumpers and modify them. I have the bumper and it is sitting there... I could make a mold off of it and make replicas by fiberglassing in the mold, but how do they make the plastic bumpers on our cars in the first place? Quote
3.1cutlass Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Correct me if i am wrong but i am pretty sure they are a poured into a mold. Quote
3.1cutlass Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 You gonna do this Ken? If so i call dibs on the first one. I will pay a good amount for that bumper. You don't live to far away. Indy right? Quote
ManicMechanic Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 There was a small shop across the street from where I used to work in Ohio...They built jetskis...That type of place would have the capability of making a mold. Quote
Crazy K Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 I want to. Since I have several cars to play with.... I think it would be ideal to make a facia that fits onto the existing bumper, covering only the lower portion. And would thus be compatible with multiple CS fronts!!!! I would prefer it to be plastic and flexible... but I need to learn how. tips? thoughts? I don't really want to make a fiberglass ricey crackable facia. Quote
Euro Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 Would you have enough people committed to buying one to make this worth it? Quote
Crazy K Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 Would you have enough people committed to buying one to make this worth it? good question! these wouldn't be "cheap" and they'd be a PITA to ship. Quote
Euro Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 Exactly. And whatever company you get to do the mold needs a guarantee of X amount of buyers for it to be worth it for them. Quote
3.1cutlass Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 i would come pick mine up. I would make a feeler thread to get some commitments. Get a price idea first too. Quote
