on my way back from bedford today, i seen my temp gage go from dead cold to almost the read mark. so i pulled over then bang she died. got out poped the hood checked bleaders and only steam came out at this point i was like fuck lower intake soo i looked at my oil cap it was good. wtf, so i left her there, wint home then to come back and the car was gone i was pissed, it got towed so i got here out. it fired rite up and all i heard this screaching sound then the belt blew and it still made the sound she smoakes under the exhast manifold so i warped the head i think but the screaching what could it be

All your pulleys spin? Lots of rubber shavings? I'm guessing one of your accessories locked up, like my alternator did a month ago.

 

As for the other sound, I'd have to hear it.

Oh, it's still screeching? I thought the screeching stopped when the belt blew, ergo your belt's friction against the water pump pulley.

Alternator went halfway on my trip to Cali...in a 1985 Fiero 2.8...

You're lucky...i had to limp it into OK City and wait for an AZ to open...39* sleeping in a STUFFED Fiero that night!

 

Can't complain too much though. Dragged the car out of its resting place only a week before - an Ohio cornfield of 5 years. That was the only trouble i had with it.
