how far is out should the clutch engage?

whilst moving the tgp back and forth from the garage to the yard, i've noticed the clutch engages with the pedal way close to the floor. say, 2 inches.

from my experience with the ste that the tranny came from, the clutch should engage when the pedal is about 40% of the way up. of course, that's with an old clutch.

is this just form the new clutch? i'm positive i didn't install the clutch backwards, so that can't be it. i find it hard to believe there's that much of a difference between the old clutch and the new. the old one still had a LOT of life left in it.

anyone have a similar experience

Only thing I can think of is if you did not bleed the hydraulic system well enough. I my grab point is very low, and I think it might be due to a sub-par bleed....however I won't know until the spring when I can beat on the car a little to see if it slips....I get no grinding tho.

by that thread, sounds like my clutch is grabbing where it should be.

and i bled the shit out of the master and slave before they went in. i hear no grinding, so i guess i'm okay?

well, i'm ok with low. i've just never driven a car where the clutch let's out this low. even brand new cars i've driven let out higher. i'll get used to it, it'll jsut take a while
