1990lumina
Check the tranny if there is fluid in it. I noticed your other thread says you're leaking red fluid. I bet that tranny hose finally blew on you and you pumped all the fluid onto the ground.
synistershadows
but it should have still run though right even with no fluid just really badly :S
GP1138
but it should have still run though right even with no fluid just really badly :S Uh.. a transmission is hydraulic by nature, so that's a big NO right there. I'll bet I was right in your other thread... transmission line blew.
1990lumina
No, it will not run properly/if at all with no fluid in it. An automatic transmission requires the proper amount of fluid to be in the hydraylic circuits and torque converter at all times. Start there. Check your fluid. ns87
Someone posted on here a while ago that they knew someone who had a beater lumina: It had a trans leak. And when it wouldn't drive in gear, he filled it up with fluid and it was fine. Deff check the level tomorrow, it could just need more fluid. some of these transmissions are kinda bullet proof, others are weaaaaaak. Kinda a crap shoot

I think i got a set for $35 from the dealer. Find the 2 metal lines coming off the side of the rad and follow them to ur trans. You can decided form there ive never touched them on a dohc. Chancho
yea you can only hope that the tranny is salvagable however, my experience with these trannys is no fluid, no tranny untill it gets a rebuild, no fun

Regal_GS_1989
The Tranny line blew on my cutlass about a week ago, while my GF was driving it. I was so proud of her, she knew exactly what to do when the car started acting wierd. She shut it off, called me and explained what happened, i had her look and sure enough there was a nice big puddle under the car. Had it towed for free, and it cost me 45$ to have the line fixed, and about 8 liters of fluid.
synistershadows
and i figured out why it was smokeing and smelling burnt the line came loose and when pressurized it was spraying tranny fluid up onto my exhaust
