Crazy K
this is the worst I have ever done to a car. driven 75,000 miles WITHOUT transmission service since I acquired it. And I was trying to remember why I had not done it. oh yeah.... OH YEAH.... BATH TIME! and I was missing a few bolts. the car is up on jackstands right now, so I need to get back out there. now seriously.... what is the latest in drain plugs that could be added to our transmissions? 19Cutlass94
Dril and tap. its all custom work as there are no drain plugs for the tranny pan. It was designed to drop the pan and do a filter change at the same time.

EFFFERS! btw OEM gasket, moderate metal powder on the magnet, but no chunks. should I stick the cork gasket in and keep the OEM gasekt for myself? It was designed to drop the pan and do a filter change at the same time. the idea is that it decreases your chance of getting covered in transmission fluid goodness when you are dropping the pan B&M makes a small kit to retrofit one in http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/itemproduct_10001_10002_31978_-1_748101_10539

You know you love smelling the burnt tranny fluid of the 4t60 goodness!
Crazy K
what I do NOT like is that kit looks like it will hang real low, which would be a problem for our cars. I wonder if there is one with a lower profile, or if a small one could be mounted through the edge of the pan???? how about a transmission fluid suction device???????? Crazy K
P.S. this is the only freaking tranny pan I have pulled that has no dent. NO SCRATCH ABSOLUTELY NO MARS OF ANY SORT! after a cleaning with steel wool and hot soapy water..... it looks OEM new. I should save it for a car I want to keep!!!!! Alas...... 19Cutlass94
Just drop the pan!
Chancho
you can retrofit the kit where you hook it up to the back side of the pan and while the car is leaning back because its on jack stands it will drain out of the back drain plug
Crazy K
You mean the plug adapted above is small enough to install on the verticle edge of the pan? well, it is all back together. probably the first flush in 159,000 miles. Ran like total shit. slipping sliding... oh wait... it's snowing! trans works great, we'll see further past the test drive. maybe some dry pavement would give me a better feel? +PLUS... stuck a pair of 15 steelies POS fully threaded tires on. cheapo snow tires FTW! ns87
Honestly, dropping the pan isn't so bad. I just wait for the fluid to drain out first by lowering one half of the pan more
