synistershadows
ok so i dunno what it is but theres a leak comming from up front of my cutty kinda by the radiator but its a redish fluid I thought it might be tranny fluid but i keep checking that regularly and it hasnt changed levels what could this leak be?? as well after driving for a while and stopping i see white smoke comming from under my hood i opened it up to take a look at where its commming from and i cant really see where its on the driver side kinda by the air box and it smells kinda sweet like anitfreeze i just put in a new t-stat and it looks like the gasket has corroded on the bottom half only and looks like it could have been leaking at one point but its not leaking anymore from what i can tell please help me figure out what these problems could be as i would like to keep this engine running well and possibly someday boost it. Chancho
sweet smell is almost always coolant, and maybie its burnign off somewhere thats y u get the sweet smell, and the redish is tranny fluid, either a bad pan gasket, or these cars have a tendancy that when the tranny is overfilled and the car is driven somewhat harder then normal (tranny gets hotter then normal) they will leak
synistershadows
its comming from up front though up by the radiator
dohc v6
The fact that u said that it smokes tells me that the coolant is hitting the exhaust. since the exhasut is only on the drivers side u need to look over there. If you just did a thermostat then you need to take the air box off and keep loking. I know when I do my plenum, the throttle body bypass hose always leaks and I have to tighten it. Look around, the leaks there, but deffinitly look around about the exhasut.
rockfangd
if it is leaking red i would be willing to almost place money on rotted tranny cooler lines. they are under the airbox at the radiator and love to spray under there. synistershadows
are thoes lines hard to fix?
dohc v6
What? tranny lines? The tranny lines go under everything. I doubt that its the tranny lines. You need to find out exactl what is leaking weather its tranny fluid or coolant. We need to know to futher diagnoisis

oceancon
ps fluid is also red - so check those lines esp. where they meet the pump..
dohc v6
Umm, no. Power steering fluid is clear, people put tranny fluid in there. That should be flushed out asap.
BXX
Umm, no. Power steering fluid is clear, people put tranny fluid in there. That should be flushed out asap. a lot of powersteering fluid is red, especially the kinds with stopleak.. If the powersteering fluid is old, as in never been drained out, it can look very red as well.. tranny fluid can also be substituted as PS fluid in emergencies, and it will also act as a stop leak because it will cause the seals to swell a tab bit. Sometime it can cause damage, other times it can stay in there and not damage anything...
1990lumina
If you can't find the leak there are dyes you can buy that will help you find the source of the leak.
GP1138
It most certainly COULD be transmission fluid, the transmission cooler lines go into the radiator on the right side. My lower fitting on my new car was leaking there.
