hell_raiser Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 hey my tie rod end will not come off any tips? Quote
Crazy K Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 beat it... just beat it! it you are talking about the tierod being stuck to the strut assembly... Once you have the cotter pin removed and the nut turned about half off... I raise theat corner of the car by the underside of the tierod, and whack down on the strut until it pop. Or you could have GP1138 wang on the underside with a sledge until it pops off and hits me in the face! Quote
gp90se Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Imma guess the outer wont come free from the knuckle...he'res my new and improved way of doing it.. Support the car via jackstand, remove wheel, remove cotter pin, loosen nut almost to the end of the bolt, place jack under bolt and jack up till the knuckle moves up about 1/4" beat knuckle till tie rod pops free. I have tried a number of ways, but that seems to be the fastest way to get it free. Quote
hell_raiser Posted December 4, 2007 Author Report Posted December 4, 2007 nope shes seized on the inner tierod Quote
Crazy K Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 I have always been able to knock the lock bolt loose with a large vise grip and a sharp blow with a mallet. i've seen seized nuts heated with a torch. make sure you are turning it the right way too! Quote
