Matts97cutty89 Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 For the past few weeks my little orange SECURITY light has been on in my car for those of you that do not know it is a 1997 Cutlass Supreme SL......has anyone ever had this problem before or know how to turn it off? I heard from a couple of people that work at GM dealerships that when that light comes on it has something to do with the Resistor Chip in my ingnition key?? is this true? any help or advice would be appreciated! that light is really bothering me! About the VATS bypass, that only works to bypass the chip in the key. If the security light is always on, I do not believe the chip to be the problem. When my chip would piss off the system I would be able to start it (sometimes) and while driving the light would come on as the chip failed to provide the needed contact. As was stated earlier, the VATS module is likely on its way to failure. I suggest replacing it now before it fails on you at the most inopportune moment. Quote
