GP LCD DIC Dimming Problem

Do you know what would cause a 92 GP LCD DIC to turn off when the headlights are turned on? It works fine and is bright when the headlights are off, but when it tries to dim, it turns the display off completely. Would not having a stereo installed affect this? It might tapped into the dimmer circuit via that is my only thought...

if your DIC dimmer wire is tapped into the stereo dimmer wire, and you don't have your stereo in currently, it might. I'd just plug the stereo in quickly and try it

Since there is no stereo in the car, is there a way I could trip it to just check that it still works? Does that circuit need to be grounded to dim or is the voltage dropped across it?

I think the voltage drop determines the dimming. You cant just grab the stereo and plug it in for a minute to check?

No, I can't. The stereo is installed in a different car. I would have to swap it out, mess with the harness, etc, etc. I'll mess with it today.
