Addicted to eaton
I would like to add Remote keless entry to my car. It did not come with it but i want it. What all is involved?. Is it a simple plug and play?
Q-Ball
I know you have to program it. Why not just go aftermarket with an alarm and starter? Thats what I did.
Chancho
You have to have the provisions for it already look on the trunk, there will be a sticker with the rpo codes i dont know which one it is, but i think its on w-body.com, and you can check and see if you are alredy prewired for one, if not then go with aftermarket, its much cheaper from what i hear
ManicMechanic
AU0 should be the RPO...But I've never seen a W body pre-wired for RKE.
Addicted to eaton
I know it does not have it already checked. Just wondering what it would take to add it to it.
slick
So so so much easier to go aftermarket. If you just want keyless (lock, unlock, no flashing parking lots, no horn honk), it's seriously like 5 wires to connect.
White93z34
i'm kinda wanting to do this myself, since i have found Chevrolet bowtie branded keyfobs to be available, i am fully aware that aftermarket is probably better and easier to add i wouldn't mind adding a factory setup, namely so it looks like it came that way. Scottster
Is it possible to tune a factory remote to an aftermarket system?
Q-Ball
You can get a nice aftermarket key fob with lights and sounds! I had to get it... Jamie always complains... "Why does that car have an alarm?" In reality, he is just jealous. Is it possible to tune a factory remote to an aftermarket system? I really doubt it. I think it would be too much work. I think you would be better off taking apart the aftermarket remote and trying to put it in the stock remote.
1990lumina
Not to mention the aftermarket remote will havea range much greater then the 10feet the factory one does lol..
