kfahn
these 180 degree t-stat upgrades, what do they do to add performance?
Redfox340
Well, nothing directly. But, indirectly, your engine runs cooler and therefore not radiating AS MUCH heat to the intake manifold / plenum. Engines like running at operating tempretures will cool, dense air entering into the combustion chamber. If installed you won't notice perfromance on paper, but you may feel better throttle responce generally. - Erik
mfewtrail
you can also drill tiny holes in the thermostat to allow a small amount of coolant through while the coolant temp isn't warm enough for the t-stat to open yet....allowing the engine to run even cooler(not a ton, but it supposedly helps) check out either Intense or ZZP and they have an example of a "drilled" t-stat if I recall correctly
kfahn
ok, but what does the t-stat do to make the engine run cooler, even indirectly?
