Im goin for the following mods for my 3100:

upper & lower intake manifolds

new throttle body

ASE performance chip

MPS cai

SLP catback exhaust

I was wondering if any of you guys have had any of these done to your vehicels, and if so what type of performance increase did you get?, if any.

And as for the CAI and SLP, Ive heard pple say that they only fir the 3800 engine, while otehrs have said it doesnt matter wat engine it is, as long as its a 97-03 GP. Is taht tru or wat, Im tryin to get more replies on that.

Piece by piece you'll won't see much, but added together you'll get a full effect.

Do a dyno run without the modifications, and afterwards (or step-by-step) re-dyno to see where you end up.

What car (engine / year) do you own that's wanting the SLP exhaust?

Well, the obvious problem I'll spot is the rear fasica but it's only cosmetic issues.

Since you don't have the GT or GTP, your rear fasica doesn't have the dual exhaust openings. (Correct me if wrong)

Other than that GM is very interchangable, I really don't think you'll have a problem bolting up; really only fit + finish.

Yeah thats tru, but it doest matter what the back looks like, its gonna be a muffler and tip on both sides instead of just 1.

Anyone else with ideas about the rest of the stuff please share your knowledge

What are you doing to your intake manifolds?? You just said, upper and lower intakes. Are you port/polishing them?

Yeah Im gettin a new set ported and polished

With intake, TB, and exhaust, you should see some pretty good gains. I would port match the heads if I were you, to match the lower intake ports.

Its a 1999 Grand Prix SE 3100 sfi

Maybe i'm just dumb, but i thought that from 97 and up, unless it is a GTP, all the SE's and GT's had the 3800 in them, not the 3100?

Go ahead and correct me cause i want to know the answer.

And from my understanding, some of the cutty's and stuff in 97 had the 3100. - Maybe i'm too tired and can't think straight.

Well, since you want some to correct you, here I go!!

The 3100 he is referring to is the Gen IV so to speak 3100. I believe its rated at 175HP, and I think head design gave these HP gains over Gen III 3100. I also think in only 97 and 98 (maybe) the 3800 was used in GP SEs. After that, I know the new 3100 was used.

Nope, the 'base' Grand Prix still have and offer the 3100.

Check GM Powertrain to double check.

SE's standard engine is the 3100.

GT's standard engine is the 3800.

GTP's standard engine is the Supercharged 3800.

The 3800 is an option on the SE, but the GT and GTP can only have the 1 engine.

There is no such thing as a gen 4 3100. An intake manifold change does not designate a new generation. Gen 4 is the new 3500 that isnt out yet.

Anyway, a 99 wont have the larger intake manifolds on a 3100. Your best bet is to find a 3400 from 96-99 in a minivan and swap those intake manifolds so that the EGR still bolts right up. Beats porting and polishing the pre 2000 3100 manifolds.

Well, I guess I messed that one up  I guess most of the 97 SEs I have seen have the 3800. Notice I said Gen IV so to speak. I just meant that is was more powerful than the 160HP version.
