how do i take the plastic cover off? not the boot but the white cover. im happly removing my subframe lol

yes, it just slides off. You don't need it after that so don't worry if you mangle it.

 

Yeah you dont need it after. It's just shows you if they were stock. I was able to re use one of mine. The other one wasnt even there when I replaced it.

uuh.. you are supposed to keep those in there, pretty sure it acts as a bushing. And I don't see how it would be possible to mangle it.

I'm under the assumption that he is talking about the very thin plastic covering that you have to pull off of the inner tie rod head before loosing it from the rack.

as am I, I don't remember it being that thin though. maybe I'm getting confused with my girlfriend's civic rack.

I rented a special tool from Canadian tire. My shop manual says you can use 2 wrenchs, but it didnt work.

yeah we have it at work (canadian tire) but the damn parts are gone all we have is the tube

all done. damn tie rod end is stuck though. the pin broke lol and on the right side its stuck on the inner tierod end.

So you still havent gotten it off? Torch it like said in the other thread. Maybe you someone could combine the 2 threads?

at the very least hit it with the propane torch, that is what i did to get the ones of the Z34 parts car i stripped a little while ago. it worked fine for me, soon as i hit them with the heat they just popped off.
