Compression

Unless you go with insane boost, no reason to decrease C/R. I even think that a 2.8 (IF I am not mistaken) is low enough to moderately boost in stock form. Not that the rest of the engine would stay together, but that's something left for others to discuss.

Lowering the compression ratio is only good for running boost. If you have a lower compression ratio, then you can run more boost without knock. If you have really high compression ratio then you could lower it so you can run your car on regular gas, but it is very rare occasions where someone wants to lower compression on a N/A engine.

New pistons would be the way to do it. But, I do think it would be cool to build an n/a 3.1L with like 12:1 CR. I just think it would really neat.

Well, I cant wait to see what kinda power you get from that. You gonna bore it out any, or just go high CR?
