I don't remember if that's the right name right now  (brain fart), but I hope you know what I mean...

why is it that most people don't have one?? they are cheap, easy to install, and accessible; what are the cons/pros of them?? just wondering because I haven't heard of anybody with one.

I have one because I installed it myself. (it smaller than it looks, don't worry)

Boulevard's Z34 has one stock, and he didn't even know about it.

I saw a Park Avenue Ultra with one in a junkyard.

And I hear the 4T60E has heat issues. The 4T65E doesn't according to ZZP, but Crazy K has claimed on several accounts that installing a transmission cooler has provided positive results and even solved certain shifting problems.

heat is your transmissions worst enemy. adding a cooler generally lengthens the life of your trans. however, if not installed properly, can prove to be disastrous.

x2

ZZP was talking about stories where people had installed them incorrectly or for some strange reason the hoses popped out, the transmission fluid leaked out all over the place, and their tranny went...well...kaboom! (for lack of a better term).

exactly, it only seems weird that being so easy to install, custom/modded cars people don't talk about them as a "must do", wich I think it should be... and again, I was just thinking about it and decided to question you guys...

yeah, installing a transmission cooler is a definite benefit, so long as you do it the right way. When you buy your tranny cooler, you can also buy the fittings for your car so that everything stays connected securely. Don't half-ass the installation under any circumstances.

if your engine isny highly modded or seeing regular towing duty, its really not needed IMO.

Wouldn't one help anyway if you're constantly putting a heavy load on your car? e.g. me abusing my car off every stop light.

I'm trying to get my car to do some nice racing, autocross and more fun stuff. It is my project/toy car, I'm getting a new/rebuilt transmission here pretty soon, and it will be under pressure, so I guess I'm going to install one, any particular brand?? should I wait until I do the transmission or it doesn't matter??

It doesn't matter.

Don't get too big of one either. Running the transmission too cool won't allow it to function properly.

I need to know a bit more about this, since I have a fairly large transmission cooler. It's smaller than it looks, but still, its large. Do you have any more information on this or links I can read up on? I've read a couple places but it doesn't really seem to show much. The transmission definitely warms up after a couple of minutes during idle no matter hwo cold it is outside, and I have a remote start so the engine is always on for at least 2-3 minutes before I get in and drive away. Thanks.

I remember having the discussion with ya before, but I never did look into the reasoning behind it. I just remember reading a few article's about it, and hearing about it from others as well.

I'll look into it, and get back with ya.

I've Thought About Putting One On My Gp. How Do You Do It, And What One Would You Guys Recommend?

search, noob

you dont need a real big one, but get the biggest you can afford. theyre really easy to install. just run it in parallel w/ the stock one in the radiator. you can also get a GM one that has brackets to bolt in instead of using the ties through the radiator and condensor, but theyre pretty expensive.

how to find the clitorus. just ask chef.

dont the 3.4L have one stock or what is that smaller looking radiator infront of the big one?

I Still Don't Think Mine Does Either

it shouldnt have an aux one in front of the condensor, but there should be one in the radiator. just look for two 3/8" (iirc) lines going into the passenger side radiator tank.

91-93 3.4s and (probably the same years) 3800s were the only ones to get them, except I have seen OEM ones on a 88 and a 90 CS 2.8 and 3.1 respectively. and that 90 3.1 has as oil cooler too! so it may have also been a performance option... both the 88 and 90 were well optioned internationals.
