B_A_Buick3.1 Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Anyway, i still don't know anymore than i started with on this car, but the time has almost come for me to put down my 195hp 138k mile 3.1, So here is the ish, im thinking that a pontiac 3.1 turbo would go nicely in this car... (grand national anyone?hehe... ) this is where this post comes in, how much modification would have to be done to make this swap go as smoothly as possible? and how would the ride be if i had air-ride installed?? again, any and all info would be greatly appreciated... By the way, I still have no leads what so ever as to the ground effects or the grille/air induction thingie.... So again any ideas there would be nice also Quote
Andrew Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 swapping in a turbo 3.1 should be very easy. air ride is awesome, best combo of comfort and performance. but it would be all custom, so think lots of $$$. Quote
ns87 Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Maybe it has DEI.... Either way from what I understand the turbo swap is really straight foward. Just search for it, several people have done it! Quote
BXX Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 a 200hp N/A 3.1???? 14.5:1 3.1 would sound badass, or even better, a 14.5:1 2.8L that spins 9K Quote
Psych0matt Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 a 200hp N/A 3.1???? 14.5:1 3.1 would sound badass, or even better, a 14.5:1 2.8L that spins 9K mmmm, I loved my 2.8 in the cavalier. could easily spin the tires in a heavy convertible Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 a 200hp N/A 3.1???? 14.5:1 3.1 would sound badass, or even better, a 14.5:1 2.8L that spins 9K I dont think running leaded race fuel in a 2.8 would be badass or even unleaded 110 Quote
Brian P Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 ....yeah. 11.5:1 was pain enough on 93 octane. Quote
B_A_Buick3.1 Posted November 20, 2007 Author Report Posted November 20, 2007 Wow, that got a disscusion going, anyway, I u all are probably gettin tired of me postin and nagging yall, but, Ive got a ques., i was tinkering around under my car while it was on my grease rack and i noticed a stamp that is on all of the remaining fascia ground effects on the car, its just 3 letters and i figured someone here would kno the wussup on it, "ASC" and this time i figured i might put up the VIN and see if anyone can find out anything, cus i sure can't... 1G4WB14T7KP464758 Quote
Euro Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 ASC is...errr...was a sunroof company that installed sunroofs on cars(GM's only? not sure) They also helped in the making of the Turbo STE's, TGP's, and McLaren Mustangs. Quote
Euro Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 oh..btw I'm sure someone else will give a more detailed answer to ASC! Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Very odd that a w-body Regal would have ASC on fascia parts.. ASC did many special vehicle projects in the '80s, but they're also a big installer of aftermarket sunroofs in many brands of cars (anywhere from Ford to BMW). Quote
B_A_Buick3.1 Posted November 20, 2007 Author Report Posted November 20, 2007 thats not the only odd thing, Also the VIN on this car doesn't make much sense either.... i can't really find anything on it, i've tried buick but that was a no go, its like this car never existed..... the only things i kno 4 sure is that it sits lower than other 89's by about 2 inches, and it will get up and go quicker than any stock N/A V6 has right to.... but its gettin old... and i really don't want to change anything major until i can find out the Wussup on this car... altho i would love to drop a turbo motor in here and have 2 "grand nationals"... Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 The only thing about the VIN is that P in there.. that should be a 1, for the plant code. http://www.w-body.com/vin.html Quote
B_A_Buick3.1 Posted November 20, 2007 Author Report Posted November 20, 2007 the p is for the pontiac michigan plant, i kno that cus the sticker on the inside of the driver side door Quote

IRONDOG442 Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Can we just pretend it never existed too then?? Quote

B_A_Buick3.1 Posted November 21, 2007 Author Report Posted November 21, 2007 I kno the pic is crappy (old camera phone) but its the best pic i have, even if it is about 2 years old, you can just make out where it sez "buick" under the door, and clearly see that there is no grille, but an air induction scoop type thing. im going to take some better pics when i get batteries for my camera. B_A_Buick3.1 Posted November 21, 2007 Author Report Posted November 21, 2007 WELL F*CK IT SEZ THAT IT CAN'T POST THE PIC BECAUSE THE UPLOAD FOLDER IS FULL OR SUM SHIT......... BUT, If you give me your email, i can email it to you... Quote
Psych0matt Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 upload it on photobucket or something and then just link it here where are you located, and is the car white? Once I see a pic I can say for sure, but I'm 99% sure I've seen one like this locally, and I think I have a pic somewhere. I look for it and hopefully post it in a few mins Quote
