ns87
http://albany.craigslist.org/pts/476632788.html I've never had trouble driving in the winter, but I saw these in Craigslist and they're the tire size I run now. Is that worth it since I'd have to pay to have them mounted? My car handles very well in the snow as is. Just curious as to what people thought. I'm in upstate NY with not a huge amount of snow, but we get our share!
Psych0matt
meh, 20$ a tire isnt bad. I'd pick those up, and try and locate a set of winter rims for cheap as well
GutlessSupreme
$20/tire is dirt cheap. definitely pick up a set of beater rims to leave them on. studs are illegal here in RI :\ oh well, not like we've been getting shitloads of snow down here. 1990lumina
A few years ago I would have said all seasons are good enough..but after driving a winter last year with my winter tires I'll never go back to an all season. The traction in deep snow is what sold me..ice is ice..if you have a tire good on ice it'll last one season and be worn out by the end IMO. Studs help a lot on ice but they also reduce your traction in dry surfaces...but if your city is like mine they neevr plow the streets so you can run around on ice and snow all winter without touching pavement! My tires last year got 10,000km put on them and they barely have any wear lol

91gtp
For $20 a tire its a steal. Depending on what the junk yards are like where you live, some will mount tires for you for cheaper then a shop will. Also some highschools shop classes will do it for a pretty cheap price too. I know my school did.
pwmin
i would. i just got 2 more snow tires for the prix (had 2 that i used a little last winter on the 96). i wanted to get some wheels, but i'm too poor, so i'm going to stick them on the x-laces even though they are a little narrow for them (215/55)

Regal_GS_1989
I have studded Snow Tires for my W. Uniroyal Rallye M+S to be exact. All seasons might do alright in the winter. But there is absolutely no comparison to Winter tires. We have the same set for my moms car that jeff has for his lumina, and they are amazing. You can drive drive through a foot of snow and be able to actually stop and get going again with ease.
ns87
No JY around me. I'm gonna check the local boces see how much they charge to mount tires... still kinda torn about this. The place is 70 miles away from me

Regal_GS_1989
snow tires OWN on these cars in the wintertime. x2!!! X3 Just let the pictures do the talking. BTW: I wasn't actually stuck there. Just built up enough snow that i couldn't back up any further. I guess i coulda taken a running start at that, but instead decided to stay home and drove back into the garage.
