nequamminor
I have a '95 Monte Carlo Z34, with 195xxx miles on it. One thing I've been wondering about is the fact that when my blinker is on, (left or right) my rpm's will go up and down with the blinker as the light blinks on and off. I have a ses light and abs light on as well, and they brighten and dim as the light flashes. Could this be all in the gauge cluster or could it be another issue such as my alternator? Thanks for your help.
pwmin
3.4's are notorious for alternators going bad and causing all sorts of weird shit to go on. def have your charging system checked out.
5speedz34
^what he said. My guess is you have a bad alt, and or ground. If you going to replace the alternator, there is a write-up in the FAQ.
DOHCRagtopguy
Absolutely sounds like bad alternator. Test the output with a voltmeter, should be 14+ v coming out.
kuwaitliberation
There is also another very common problem in that the aux positive battery terminal on the fender well tends to corrode on the connections. Pull that fuse box and connection point off and clean it up really good. oh, and here is the thread for that: http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php/topic,64146.0.html
