90TGP
I'd suggest a CarSound cat from http://www.mandsproduction.com It outflows Catco/Dynomax/Random Tech and is only $75.

pontiacjeff
Word to the wise: "High flow" catalytic converters are the biggest scam going right now. Watch out for cats that claim to be high flow but really are no more than stock replacements. All modern catalysts have basically the same material inside. If you haven't looked in one, it is a ceramic material that is shaped like a big honeycomb. The "holes" in it run from end to end and are very small, something like 1/16" square or less. It is through these hundreds (thousands) of "holes" that the exhaust gasses flow. A high flow cat will have one of two methods of increasing flow over a stock unit. It will either increase the size of the holes (by using a different material) or increase the number of holes (more material: i.e. larger body). Beware cats that have larger pipe inlet/outlet sizes but have the same body dimensions and and same material as stock. It doesn't matter how big the pipes are if the exhaust has to go through the same size and number of "holes". I have removed more "high-flow" cats (from the manufacturers named in this post) that are not larger or more efficient than an o.e. cat. Actually, some have a smaller honeycomb but are slightly larger body, which has a net-zero effect on flow. These cats also have a tendancy to break apart and become clogged due to substandard materials being used. There are some companies now offering cats with stainless steel material that does have larger holes. The stainless withstands much higher heat and will likely outlive the car. But they are much more expensive.
sonyman87
i went with a Magnaflow cat. also took the time to cut out the resignator The car got much louder and you can tell its free flowing now. its stainless steel witha lifetime warrenty. total cost including installation was 100bucks. Panopticon
Running without a cat is irresponsible. :x "Im only person, it doesn't matter" "You only live once" "I don't really care" running no cat is being such a pollution whore. I just don't get it why people just dont care!!!! I gladly give up my 2hp to help out a bit. anyway, yah like was stated before be wary of so called "hi-flow" cats. I just don't get it why people just dont care!!!! I gladly give up my 2hp to help out a bit. True Environmental Fact: * over 50% of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is produced by the oceans and decaying material * less than 2% is produced by vehicle emissions in all the world * Plus, if you cut down ALL the trees in North America you'll only depleat the world's Oxygen (O2) level by 0.2% - Erik
Panopticon
so that makes you feel justified in polluting more than normal? Like i said i guess i just dont get it.
mdelorie
perhaps not... but my wallet sure as hell feels better. excuse me for being lower on the financial ladder, but when my cat was plugged, I didn't exactly have 600 dollars to buy a new one. and, seeing as my fuel economy has gone up since I removed it, I don't see how burning less fuel equates to being a "pollution whore"
Redfox340
so that makes you feel justified in polluting more than normal? Like i said i guess i just dont get it. No, I live in a regularly emissioned state and I DO see the good points to it. Smog, NOx's, and Hydro-carbons are a big deal. The city does have better air (after the Air Program took effect years ago) compared to what it was. But at the same time, it's not making much of a dent at a world-wide scale. I run a cat on all my cars due to the law and I want to. Nothing more, nothing less. - Erik
