ns87
I feel when I work on my car, more shit breaks than I fix. Anyway! My car has the most bone jarring 2-1 downshift..... and the downshift is not at the same speed it used to be (used to be around 18mph, now its about 12mph). Last year I replaced the vacuum modulator. I'm going to replace the vac line going to it (could this be caused by a vacuum leak). Also, I want to adjust the TV dentent cable, but I can't depress that button AT ALL. As much as I force it, it will not depress. Any ideas? Thanks guys, you're usually really helpful
ns87
Bump. So, I was wrong its the 3-2 downshift. That little elbow rubber line to the modulator is indeed cracked, and I will replace it. But with it not connected, fluid came out the modulator with the car running. Is this signs of a bad one, or is it bc there is no vacuum pressure?
Addicted To Boost
When fluid is coming out your modulator, your modulator valve is bad.
ns87
When fluid is coming out your modulator, your modulator valve is bad. But theres none in the tube, this is when the tube is disconnected
mfewtrail
Fluid coming out = it's bad. If it's coming out with the tube disconnected, it's going to be sucked into the intake manifold when the tube is connected. As for the detent cable, use a large screwdriver to depress the button. If you still can't get it, have someone else adjust the cable for you while you use both hands to push down w/ the screwdriver and depress the button. They're usually pretty tough to mash down... Thanks mfewtrail and nick. Thats so funny, I installed this modulator a year ago and hated how it wasn't adjustable. Oh well, I guess now I have an excuse to get an adjustable one. RangeStang
That is the same exact thing my lumina does. I adjusted the TV dentent cable it helped a little but not much I bet that is what is wrong with mine. Thanks
ns87
no prb. its a world of difference I swear. Just take off the air box and its right below. Took less than 5 min. Try to get the adjustable one though. My first replacement wasn't, and this adjustable one is 100X better!
