AWeb80 Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 The Head Unit I Put In My Honda Wont Read Cd's. It Has Been Working Fine. But Now When I Put A Cd In, The Track Motor Just Wines Like It Is Searching For A Cd. I Hit It Once And It Jumped Back In Line. Now, It Started Whining Again, And It Won't Respond. Do You Think The Track Motor Screw Is Bad, Or Is The Lense Dirty? Quote

ManicMechanic Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 My CDX-M630 did this once, I had to take the top plate off and manually turn the track motor screw to reset the laser back to where it's supposed to be and it had been fine ever since. The laser had somehow gotten to the other end of the Track Screw. Quote

The laser had somehow gotten to the other end of the Track Screw. The CD lens assembly moves from one end of the screw to the other as it reads. On some units, if it is having trouble reading, it will move very quickly from one end of the track to the other, and sometimes it will get stuck. I'd say open it up and see if the lens is dirty. As a precursor, try getting some compressed air and blowing it in the general direction of the eye. Quote
