Psych0matt Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Was swapping two wheels today to see if it was the wheel/tire or if it's something else up front, and I was just taking a quick look around and found this: Quote
runt Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 If I'm not mistaken, that is for the blinker fluid overflow. Quote
mediabandit Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 looks like the plug for the horn. lol Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 that looks like your map sensor plug Quote
Crazy K Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 that............. looks like an alternator pig tail. show us the front of it. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 that looks like your map sensor plug It is 3 wire but I didnt know DOHC had the MAP sensor down there? Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 no, it's got the 3 seperate cylinders/prongs. The alternator should have a rectangularish plug? that looks like your map sensor plug It is 3 wire but I didnt know DOHC had the MAP sensor down there? well no not down there, obviously it would be misplaced. But I would think you'd notice if your map sensor wasn't plugged in lol. Quote
Q-Ball Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 I hate mystery wires. I had a shop look at one of mine and they couldnt find out anything. It must do something, thats the scary thing. Quote
Psych0matt Posted October 31, 2007 Author Report Posted October 31, 2007 its two wires, purple and yellow. Alternator is plugged in, and this has been unplugged as far as I know since last spring when I had the engine done, or at least last fall when I had the rack replaced. I don't know of anything unusual going on Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Only plug I can think of back there is the crank position sensor on the side of the block... but once again I think youd notice it if it wasnt plugged in... Quote
Psych0matt Posted October 31, 2007 Author Report Posted October 31, 2007 so far, true I think a reliably running car for a year and a half rules both of those out Quote
ns87 Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Looks like for the radiator fan to me! Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Impossible! its in the rear of the block/engine bay. Quote
ns87 Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 its a DOHC, theres a lot of impossible things going on in there! Quote
Psych0matt Posted October 31, 2007 Author Report Posted October 31, 2007 well A) the car is back together and it's dark out, its just a two hole plug, it looks like any other basic two wire plug in the engine compartment Quote
joey b Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 2 wires purple and yellow. I'm pretty sure it is either the crank sensor or the speed sensor. If you had the ICM moved it is most likely the crank sensor. One has a twist and the other does not. Pretty sure the crank sensor has the twist. When I swapped my engine, they both had the same color and wire harness and only differed in the twist. I couldn't get the car running and the reason was because I had mixed the 2 up. Quote
Psych0matt Posted October 31, 2007 Author Report Posted October 31, 2007 well I did have the coils relocated, but a) why would there still be a plug end, and why is it on the back side? I had a problem the first day I got it back from the swap, and the speed sensor was unplugged, not allowing the trans to shift out of first (since the speed sensor was registering 0) so I don't think it's that, and if it was the crank sensor, it wouldnt run at all Quote
Crazy K Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 could a new wire have been run to relocate the coilpacks, thus leaving the old wire behind? Quote
Psych0matt Posted October 31, 2007 Author Report Posted October 31, 2007 possible, but I would assume that he would have kept the plug end, since that would be needed to plug into the new ICM Quote
Psych0matt Posted October 31, 2007 Author Report Posted October 31, 2007 canister purge solenoid? is that the film canister type looking thing in the pic? if so, that's what I thought, but theres already a plug in it (blocked in the pic) Quote
Brian P Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 not sure where you see that, but it's just a solenoid with two hoses attached to it. One hose comes from a steel line that runs to the back of the car, and the other hose goes to near the TB somewhere. Quote
Psych0matt Posted October 31, 2007 Author Report Posted October 31, 2007 this is the first thing that I thought you were talking about Quote
