Ok guys I did a tranny flush. I drained the oil, put a new filter, new pan gasket and also installed a tranny cooler. Now when I turn the car on it goes into gear very harsh and is making funny noises. Please let me know what to do. It did not do this before.

Take the pan off again and make sure the filter is in properly. It might have slid out or something

Holy shit you kidden me. I just put 50$ worth of fluid in. Can that really happen. I have checked the lines for the new cooler and it goe out from the tranny to the radiatior, out the bottom of the radiator to the top of the cooler, out from the bottom of the cooler to the tranny. I checked the modulator to make sure the vacuum hose was connected and it is. What would happen if the tranny filter is off?

Oh I dont want to drive mine, but it is making wierd noises, and when I take it out of park it slams into revers. Do you really think its the filter. Also can I check by knocking on the bottom of the pan?

either...

a) you are still too low on fluid

B) your filter did not seal properly, or was cracked by the installation force.

Well I droped the pan, its in. So you think I am still to low on fluid, I am at like 8 quarts. How much I need with a filter change and a new tranny cooler?

Posted

na, no way. I will try it now. I just added the fluid back. I will check it and see if it does it still. It worked fine before I did this.

add one more quart, fixed. Dont know why it wanted 9 quarts but what ever, its back to normal, yeaaah. thanks guys

A pan drop takes about 7 qts on a 60-E..............so add a cooler and lines, and I can see it being 2 qts more.....

You DO know how to check the ATF fluid level right?

Warm the fluid up to operating temp (140+ degrees), run the gear selector from "P" down to "1", pausing briefly in each detent, then go back up to "P".

Leave the engine idling in "P", and go check the fluid level and add as needed. Also, be aware the cross-hatched region on the ATF dipstick is only one PINT, not one QUART like on your engine oil dipstick.
