ns87
I need to replace my motor mounts badly. I figure since I'm under my car anyway, I'll change my subframe bolts/Bushing since I have no clue if they were replaced under the recall. Do I need to buy all of those parts? Minus the cradle of course lol. What exactly are parts 7 and 4? Do they only go in that one corner? Should I replace them? I really don't want to lower my subframe since I will be in a parking lot.... Do you need to lower the subframe to replace parts 3,5? Sorry for such basic ?'s, but I left my FSM back at home
GutlessSupreme
If doing it right, you should replace everything. You can do one corner at a time, so you don't have to remove the whole frame or anything, but you may want to lower all the other corners an inch so you can slide the upper bushings/retainers in. I would definitely have a jack and stands for extra support, just in case the bolts come out too far.
ns87
2 jackstands would be enough? One for the middle front and one for middle back? Would I need a breaker bar or will a regular ratchet do the trick?
19Cutlass94
youll need a breaker bar for sure... and Id use two jackstands to hold the front of the car up.. then one under the cradle
GutlessSupreme
yea, those suckers are in good. You'll definitely need a breaker bar. They need to be torqued to 108 ft-lbs upon reinstallation.

GP1138
I'd use a LOT of PB-blaster... you DON'T want one of those bolts snapping. Take it from me, I spent hours upon hours trying to drill through one of those bolts.

93CutlassSupreme
If the car is covered under the recall, why not have some asshat at the stealership do the recall?
ns87
Its almost 18 years old. I'm sure I'd have to pay for the labor either way....and the parts are under $40. I'd rather do it as a learning experience

wildbill
Take it in, it won't cost anything to have them check it.
