Hmm....Keep trying...It's a PAIN IN THE ASS but you can do it.....atleast I was able to on my 88 2.8 and 92 3.1 Turbo downpipe.....or simply just cut off the rest of the exhaust right at the downpipe???

the reason i want to get them out instead of cutting it is becasue the complete setup is good and i can use it on my Z34 becasue i have a few holes in my piping. i will just cut the stock mufflers off this one and weld my free flows on it. but i will screw with it some more tomorrow morning when i get home. i may have to bend a wrench to fit upo in there or something. we'll see.

definitely gonna pick up another swivel, i have no idea where mine is, although my garage is pretty messy and full right now with all the parts from that Z34, lol.... and hopefully nothing snaps off dammit, i really soaked them before i left last night, so we'll see. most of the bolts have been pretty good on it so far. although all the piping for the a/c are pretty bad, looks like i will end up having to cut the lines to get the cooler out. i'll take some pics later and post them when i get a chance on the progress i am making. it is a long process when you work nights and run a business during the day as well. doesn't leave very much time to work on stripping a car down. so i pick at it a bit each day i get a few minutes, i will eventually get it all done. thanks for the input guys.

I just put these downpipe bolts back on, you DEFINETLY need a swivel. Once you get the swivel it's pretty simple just need to move the exhaust/downpipe around as much as you can to get the ratchet in there......an Air ratchet can work well too!

no my downpipe was not rusted out on my car, but the one on the parts car was mint as well, so why not keep it? you never know when it may come in handy or something. where i live there are barely any Z34's so finding parts is a real pain, so i have kept everything that was good off this parts car, no matter if i needed it or not. i have a whole storage room full of parts now and still have more to get off of it before she goes for scrap. i wil post up the pics of the progress tomorrow afternoon sometime. this is the first time i attempt stripping a car so i am having fun with it and saving everything good. just sucks that i have ended up doing everything by myself, you know how it goes.... help all your buddies with everything but when you want a hand they all vanish, lol

i've never had to use a swivel to get at my downpipe bolts. as long as you're under the car, you have a striaght shot at them.

also, if you can cut the springs off the bolts before you go to loosen them, they are less likely to break off. ime, anyways.
