LuminaPower92
Hows it going, I just got doing all my mounts - Engine, Tranny and Dogbones all GM Factory Parts The reason my car was making a clunk when i put it into drive or reverse I replaced all, because why not, and it needed it, specially the motor mount, but it still did it I checked my cradle mounts and the left front cradle mount will not tighten. Now i would replace all the mounts but can you replace the nut that the bolt tightens into and what kind of job is it. The mounts all took me a good hour and half but unsure with these what im looking at. Any info would be great, my car is a 1992 Chevy Lumina Sedan Thanks Brian
Crazy K
is the nut actually bad??? the nut is inside the front frame rail of the car. there is a nearby access hole, but the easit thing.... is to remove the bumper and the bumper structure, and you will have full access to the nut, which is actually not a 'nut', but rather a caged diamond shaped piece of plate steel with a hole drilled and tapped into it. I would see it you can remove the bolt first!
5speedz34
I had the rear driver's side nut in my old lumina stripped out. I didn't do the work a friend of mine did it for me. IIRC the nut was retapped, and that worked for me. So the bolt doesn't get tight? Is that what your saying?
LuminaPower92
yeah thats what it seemed like, it doesnt get tight, just turns, sounds like something loose or rattling when you try to tighten it. it is loose now, thats why i have that bad Clunk Actually i just checked it, i felt the top of the "nut" on top where it mounts into, and it seems like some of the bolt is there, maybe broken off?
