5speedz34
GM has that feature so stupidasses don't grind their starters. I like to call it terradactyl.
Scottster
I know, I know...old topic! Am I silly to consider putting a newer 3400 starter on my 1990 3.1? There is really nothing wrong with mine now, I just like the sound of the newer ones, and the fact that they are lighter. Can someone knock some sense into me? ManicMechanic
Do it...I paid $35 for a good used starter and haven't looked back.
slick
Yep, you can probably find them on ebay, used, for a damn good price.
BXX
What I want to do is modify my starting circuit so it's like the newer Chevys I start day in and day out... so you just have to flick it on and then let go of the key, and it automatically starts it. Some do it, some don't, but all the Impalas (except with the immobilizer) do it. Its all controlled through the BCM on newer vehicles. All the ignition switch does is send a signal to the BCM which then 'starts' the car
