Identity Crisis
I am looking for a set of Plug Wires for my 96GTP 3.4DOHC. I dont want to go with GM replacements. What are my options? Part Number and where I could find these parts cause I cant find any other then the Magnacore ones and I refuse to spend over $200USD on wires. Thanks for your help. Andrew
how about buying one of those make em yourself kits? something like this. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_753330_-1_10691 i swear i saw a kit awhile ago that came with a like a 20ft loom of wire, boots and caps to make em. that the closest i could find right now. that kit probably wont have a long enough wire for the 3.4, i remember the rear wires being very long. 93CutlassSupreme
whats wrong with ac delcos? They don't add 10 horsepower like a set of MSD's will.
per0781
well according to msd's online catalog, they don't make a spark plug wire set for the 3.4 dohc

TurboSedan
ultrarev.com has the Magnecor KV85s (8.5mm) for $163.82, part #65202-12 ouch! i don't know if i would spend that much on plug wires. they were only about $70 for my 3.1L....about $15 more than the AC Delcos i bought at the GM dealership. after breaking/separating a plug wire the very first time i pulled it off to check plugs i won't buy AC Delco wires again (and yes, i know how to pull them off). it's not that plug wires add more power, it's the quality/construction. i'd rather spend a little more and have them last. if i didn't check plugs often i'd just buy AC Delcos again. i don't have any experience with MSD, Taylor etc but the Magncor wires are very nice. toms92gpse
Ive had acdelco wires for about 80k on my car and haven't had an issue, i even change pulgs about 10 k ago and they all came off and went back on fine. I'll probably be getting a set of blue taylor 8.2mm wires since the match my under hood.

pwmin
yes, ACD's are great wires. the only one that makes 96-97 DOHC wires are magnecor. taylor makes some for 91-95 only. you might be able to make your own by getting wires that have the correct coil boots and reuse the plug boots from your old set if theyre still good. well, there are shitty other brand 96 wires like xact, autolite, and some others, but those are crap. at least get delco's. youre not going to gain anything from magnecors except for color options and bigger wires just look better, imo. per0781
8.5mm wires on a 200 hp engine is such an overkill.
