Dark Ride
Alright, what I have or am getting A '90 3.1 Engine block, doesn't knock, high mileage, missing part of topend, backfired and wouldn't stay running. A unknown condition '95 3100 engine block, was told it knocks, but I haven't heard it or seen it, good topend, lower mileage. A high mileage but still good '90 4T60 transmission. A body shell of a '94 Cutlass two door. The goal...to build a car to enter in the tough car/dirt track races. My original thoughts... Take the 3100 topend and bolt it to the 3.1 engine block, since compression was good. Unless the 3100 block is good. These are the same block anyway right? Bolt the 4T60 to the engine, bolt it all to a cradle and shove it into the cutlass. My dilenma...OBD 1.5, I don't have the wiring harness from the '90 only the one still intact in the '94 cutlass, how can I make this engine-tranny combo work? Potential Modifications... I understand that you can't chip a OBD 1.5 so no use thinking about that, but are there any other tricks? This car will only be used for this, so I don't care about gas mileage reliability or any of that crap, just more power to help me win. Also, I have set a budget for this car of about $100, but I don't mind spending lots of time on it.
GutlessSupreme
3100 block is better. $100 is not much... Gonna have to find a '90 ish 3.1/auto harness + puter.. I don't know if a 1.5 harness/puter will run a 3.1.
