turbojohn Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Searching the site, I can't see how the fuel tank sender attaches to the fuel line tube. I'm thinking it's welded? This pump/sender unit is from an unknown "junkyard" unit. Note the wire ties holding the sender unit on....not really something I want to rely on. Quote
turbojohn Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 Is the sender unit from a GP the same as the TGP? Should I just buy a new unit and go on? Quote
Garrett Powered Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 I think there the same. you might want to try it because they cost around $300 when I bought mine. I know I will be trying a junkyard one on my other car. the fuel light comes on and thats all the warning I get. Quote
turbojohn Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Posted September 20, 2007 I looked around a little bit and found these. Hit the button to check price on page. I placed an order for one. https://www.autopart.com/SPI_Sending_unit/SendingUnit1989PONTIACGRANDPRIX.htm Quote
turbojohn Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Posted September 20, 2007 I like this place "Rock Auto" because they list the Grand Prix McLaren Edition. They offer four fuel tank senders for this car. Different manufactures. http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/mak,OLDSMOBILE,1989,CUTLASS+SUPREME+INTERNATIONAL,1223075,3.1L+189cid+V6+MFI+%2528T%2529,Fuel%252FAir,4436,Fuel+Tank+Sending+Unit Quote
TGPilot Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 The hard fuel return line should have a mount tack welded to it that the sender's clips grab. Quote
turbojohn Posted October 9, 2007 Author Report Posted October 9, 2007 That was a messed up deal. I went and purchaced a new unit. So now the car has a new tank, sender unit and Walbro 225 pump, O-rings etc... filter, injectors. I didn't replace the car though Quote
