LumiDriver
So, I head off for work today, and things go well. The car has been running great for the past 2 weeks. Now, today, when I'm about to leave work, it won't start. It doesn't crank, it doesn't click, The dash lights do what they normally do when you start the car. 1 difference tho. The security light is blinking. I read on the internet to wait 10 minutes and try again, and so I did, and nothing happened. It acts as if the battery is cut off, but the lights and everything still work. The battery has a charge, the Alt is working great. I've had them both tested within the last month. Just to reiterate, there is no noise whatsoever when I turn the key to the "start" position. Ideas? If this isnt a cheap fix, I have to sell it and get another car, but I love my lumi... rockfangd
check the pill in the key for dirt or cracks to start, i had the same problem on my 94 cutlass and it went from once every 8 months to twice a day problem. Got a new key from the dealer and it is good as new
MonteCarloChick
VATS!
LumiDriver
I figured out it's VATS. I knew that much. Google taught me that. But which part of Vats is failing? The key reads 9.430, which is within the 2% tolerance of 9.530, BUT the dealer says the key is fine and it reads 14 or whatever..I'm junking this fucking car anyway... LumiDriver
Apparently few people have any real kind of input on her. Bleh, to the real forums I go for important information.

LumiDriver
OK, the wire to the ignition cylinder was cut. FIxed. I get my car back today at the shop, and after the tow. Right rear control arm is bent 1st gear went somewhere, but is nowhere on my car. The mother fucking towing company fucked my car up. My car ran amazing the day before, now I have no 1st gear, and my CA is fucked in the rear. Wow, this is a bunch of bullshit.

LumiDriver
I believe that is what they did.
SigEpCutlass
I believe that is what they did. If they did I'd sue for damages!
LumiDriver
WEll, the main issue with this is that it's my mom's friends towing company, but it was the tow driver that caused the damage. And this is something that cannot be overlooked or left alone. It has to be taken care of. If we do get something out of it, fix my transmission, I can fix the control arm. LumiDriver
Anyone have any ideas on what to check? THe fluid is brown, no metal shavings on the transmission. There isn't a slippage at all. It just won't go into first gear. It seems to be electronically related.
Crazy K
does it go into 1st when manual put in first gear? change the filter and fluid. (but don't flush)
ns87
is it only first gear? If your plug on the front of the transmission is unplugged, you also lose first gear
LumiDriver
It's only first gear. Is there a picture of this plug that I can look for? Also, it doesn't go into first gear when I put the shifter into first. stupid 4t60e.
ns87
I don't have a picture, but its right on the front of the transmission if you look below the airbox I believe.
LumiDriver
I looked there and the plug was in with no cut or exposed wiring. People keep saying it's the linkages, but that an't be is it? How would I go about checking?
LumiDriver
I checked all my fused tonight, and the IGN 2 fuse was blown. No clue how. but apparently it controls a lot of the car. I'm replacing it tomorrow. Hope that might fix something.
LumiDriver
Well, after replacing the fuse. It works great! Shifts properly and everything. The fuse is located in the block just above the batter on the driver side of the vehicle. I cannot believe it was that simple.
ns87
every once in a while with W's it is that simple
LumiDriver
Everyone around me was convinced it was something physical causing the problem. IF the tranny was slipping and stuff, I would think that too. But, i had a feeling it was electrical. and sure enough, a damn fuse.
