New here, love this car...

First off I am new to this forum and I guess I am introducing myself... I was doing some research yesterday about a 1990 Olds Trofeo that I found and it led me to this site. Up until yesterday I was unaware that the Turbo Grand Prix even existed and that is shear ignorance on my part because I am a car fanatic and I should know these things. I knew about the Turbo Sunbird, Turbo Firebird (301 Turbo and the 1989 special edition 3.8 w/GN motor)... I knew about GM's triumphant Grand National/GNX/Regal T, which I drool over every time I see one, as well as the Syclone/Typhoon. I knew about the Turbo Sprint.. and now I have a new car to drool over, the TGP! I probably spent 4 or 5 hours last night researching the TGP since I discovered its existence and I have to say I love it! I am over from the Volvo forums which has led to my turbo addiction... Currently i have a 1989 Volvo 740 Turbo with lots of mods making 300ish horsepower and am in the process of building a 16v motor w/ a Garrett GT35R to swap into it... I am a lover of all cars, I have a 1987 Jeep Wagoneer that I am in the process of turbocharging, I have a 1993 Ford Crown Vic ex-police car with 280k miles that is the DD and I've got a 1994 Olds 98 Regency which is the DD for my little sister currently (got a 3800SC waiting to be swapped in).

 

I was looking into a 1990 Olds Toro Trofeo which I can get a decent deal on but now because of you guys, I really really want a TGP... I look forward to checking out the TGP forum and would like to see some pics (specifically engine and turbo setups) of these beastly cars you all have!

So who has the fastest 3.1 turbo on here? What types of things do people do to these cars right off to unleash some more power?

crossover pipe(better flow) and chip.

 

we can find you a really nice car, they come up for sale all the time. people just dont realize it, you get a lot of car for the $$$.

I can't purchase one just yet, got to get rid of probably one car and some other stuff before I do, they aren't going anywhere though, I'm sure it won't be too hard to find... I know with my Volvo I can throw anything at it because there is no fuel cut and the ECU has the brain of a 3rd grader (you can trick it into doing whatever you want) i saw somewhere on here that the TGP has a pretty low fuel cut threshold... whats the deal with that? what is stock boost set at also?

TGP or other platform? "TurboZ24" has the quickest 3.1 around here, it was in a Cavalier Z24 and put down right around 400whp. He has since downgraded to another turbo 3.1 and is putting his faster turbo 3.1 into a RWD platform.

damn, I never knew I had something in common with a volva!!lol. stock is 9 psi chip is 11.

I live in fairfax, va... the 500dollar744ti is my name on any forum i sign up to... it just represents the volvo... i paid $500 for it and it is a 740 turbo.. volvo terms make a 744 a 740 w/ 4 doors and a 745 is a 740 wagon, TI is turbo intercooled ect... you all know what i mean with the ti... it says it right on your intake... my volvo is a 4cyl turdbuster but it does run low 14's all day on street tires... anything with less than 8 cylinders that's fast is a new concept to me :lol:
