MikeP2389 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 I got in a little accident last week in my 95 monte carlo and i screwed up my hood. So i found a few montes and luminas at a local salvage yard. I know theres four bolts to unbolt the hood but what are the two bolts on each side, they look like some type of star shaped tool is needed to take them off. what type of tool do i need to get them off? thanks Quote
MikeP2389 Posted September 12, 2007 Author Report Posted September 12, 2007 yup thats it i couldn't remember the name lol. thanks slick Quote
Andrew Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 before you take the hood off, use a paint pen to edge around the hood mounts. this way mounting and lining up the new hood is very easy. Quote
theoneliln Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 yup thats it i couldn't remember the name lol. thanks slick the ones you need to look out for is the reverse torx...i f&^king hate those things. Quote
5speedz34 Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 I thought the hood bolts are regular 6 sided bolts? Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 I thought the hood bolts are regular 6 sided bolts? x2 should be 2 10 mm? on each side towards the firewall, then I think two 8mm/side that hold the piston mounts on? there might be torx bolts on the hinges, leave those alone, just unbolt the hood and leave the hinges in the car. digitaloutsider Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 Yeah. Every W-body hood I've seen has 2 13mm bolts on each side. Quote
