Nick1234 Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 has anyone heard a dynomax cat-back exhaust on a 3.8? is it pretty loud? Quote
slick Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 Yes. And still sounds like total hell. Quote
5speedz34 Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 At least for second-gen W's: Other than the u-bend and the resonator, the stock exhaust is good enough for most applications. Anything else will sound like shit. Quote
Nick1234 Posted September 7, 2007 Author Report Posted September 7, 2007 the exhaust is starting to get real shitty on the impala. hole in resonator, hole in muffler. I don't want this car to be loud at all though option 1. replacement from parts store. Aprrox $200.... will have to replace in 3 years option 2. GMPP dual outlet exhuast. Stainless steel, comes with tips, and from what i hear, not too loud at all...$500 + shipping and could still be too loud option 3. replacement exhaust from GMPD for 01 MC SS for $430..... plus shipping. still a lot. might as well get performance 1 i don't want to spend this much, and 2 god damn it. slick Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 I'd go with the GMPD stuff. If it is too loud, add a resonator/glasspack to quiet it down some. Should get rid of most of the raspiness as well. Quote
Nick1234 Posted September 7, 2007 Author Report Posted September 7, 2007 the monte carlo exhaust or the this http://gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm?singlepart=1&partnumber=12498617 for like $70 more. Quote
Andrew Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 you could just go to a j/y and get an exhaust. cheap and effective, guaranteed to fit. BTW my downpipe made my exhaust sound perfect IMO. Quote
cryptnix Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 umm, i actually have a 2.5" exaust back a Y which steps down to a 2 1/4 with two Dynomax Super Turbo's .. sounds pretty decent to me. jeremy, jdcutty, and a few others at MIstreetscene's Kensington meet last year thought it sounded either alright or "cool" ...
