hazmatic
ok this is not for me its for my friend he has a acura integra v-tech with new headers, pulleys, timing belts, cold air intake, a performance chip, n new exhaust n the problem bein is he is only doin the quarta mile in 15.09 but he has shit for tratcion n we r sittin here tryin to figure out wut we could do ne ideas btw: dont call im a ricer cuz he really aint its a purple to blue paint job he lowerd it about 2 or more inches reaplced the wheels with some alloy racin wheels n he got them altezza tail lights with the graphit casin (my cuzin his g/f bought them for him) n he added some fog lights
kfahn
tires, he might need better ones, how wide are they?
hazmatic
the fuckin idiot dont member but he said he dont think he can go ne wider without ne rubbing or nethin like that
Bolt_Crank
put some weight in the car or, if it's FWD (can't remember....) take some weight out of the back or be a little more careful with th clutch... use the gas to keep the RPM at the top of the powerband, and release the clutch a little slower, or get some ultra grippy tires, or all of the above

godofthunder
write so i can undersand, wider tires, learn to actually launch right, maybe even check pressure. jon
kfahn
I would agree with the sticky tires idea, even if he can't get any wider of tires, he can get a better quality, that won't spin
Guest TurboSedan
it took me about a year to finally perfect my launch and shifting when i put my 5-speed in. i usually rev up to about 3500 RPM and let the clutch out without spinning the tires or burning the clutch, and no wheel hop. it's something you have to perfect....it takes time. btw, i got my CS up to 61 MPH in 2nd gear today @ the 6000 RPM redline! woot when i drive 'normally' i usually shift to 3rd @ 30-35 MPH! joshua
SmokesGTP
I would think if you lowered the pressure in the fronts you would have more traction because of more surface contact with the road. I'm not a traction expert but thats what I would do. Try takin out 10 pounds or so.
hazmatic
if he gets his traction problem worked out were do u think he would be on the quarta mile time instead of the 15.09 he stopped doin engine work cuz of hiz traction problem
Robby1870
One question, how can a motor with no torque cause a traction problem for a "competant" driver? Robby
phantomFE3
first of all, tires would be the main thing to look at, and second, i dont know if they do this with front wheel drive cars, but do a burnout, lay out some hot rubber to grip on and stay on it, that will help alot if you have a nice hot layer of rubber, plus clean off the tires before youmake a run, after you do the burnout, just like the top fuelies, the fastest drag cars in the world dont do all that shit just to look good ya know

If he is on street tires, he needs to burn them enough to clean them off and get them a little warm. But other than that, if he wants to get faster he needs to learn how to drive, or do more stuff to make more power. But, assuming it is FWD he can put some spring blocks in the rear springs to prevent weight transfer and keep the weight over the front wheels, he can also use spring compressors on the front to bring it lower and get more weight over the front wheels. Just some suggestions. They work on the GTP, see sig.
hazmatic
he cant go ne lower thats the thing hes bout a quarta inch off the ground but yes hes usin street tires n yes it is fwd but how the hell do u do a burn out in a fwd car n he dont wanna make more power untill he can fix this traction problem
phantomFE3
raise up the damn car, look at jegs.com for some slicks, you use the ebrake to do the burnout, it doesnt work as well and rwd cars but its the best you can do
Panopticon
is it the gsr or type-r? I've been in quite a few 'tegs ls/gsr/and type-r's stock and mod'd. It sounds to me like the dude needs to learn how to launch. Those engines make shit torque compared to a 3.1 or 3.8 but then again, they wieght a LOT less. launch better! dbtk2
It sounds like some of the problem is that he lowerd the car, which made the suspension too stiff so the car bounces all over the place and can't get shit for traction. As I said, put some spring blocks in the rear springs. They are something like $8 at autozone, get 2 packages, put 4 in each rear spring. Since the front is so low it doesn't need to be compressed. Then hit the e-brake in the waterbox, and do a burnout carefully making sure both tires are spinning, if not it can mess up the differential, so you have to let off the gas and let both spin and then get back into the gas. Then you just clean them off if they are street tires, and if they are slicks you do a nice big smokey burnout to warm them up. You will never be able to launch as well with a FWD as you can with a RWD because of the weight transfer to the rear of the car, so you have to do what you can. Take any weight out of the back of the car that you can also (i.e. spare tire), because that just takes weight off the front.
