Robby1870
Well, I know Brain knows this, but my car broke down on Monday, I heard loud ticking, some backfiring, and loss in power. So, I take it apart again, and heres what happened. When I put the rockers in, I used the pushrods Comp Cams gave me, and they were all the same length. If anyone has had their 2.8/3.1L apart, they know they intake and exhaust pushrods are different lenghts. So, the Comp Cams rods were longer than the stock intake but shorter than the stock exhaust, but not by much. So, I used the Comp Cams rods, and when had them torque down, I rotated the crank a couple of times and noticed that the exhaust rockers were coming VERY close to hitting the pushrod guide plates. So, two of my exhaust rocker BROKE OFF the part of the pushrod guide plate that has the fork shape on it. This then knocked the rockers off the valves. So, heres what Im doing, gettin new pushrod guide plates for all 6 cylinders, and using the Comp Cams rods for the intakes and the stock exhaust for the exhaust. No internal damage, THANK GOD!! I should have the car running soon, but I think the new rod guide plates are gonna be hard to find. Anyway, I'll be gone all weekend, so maybe Monday I'll have it done. Erik, I'll put this in the write up, then send it to ya!! Oh, and I broke down 2 hours from home on the way to pick up this girl to go see Dave Matthews in Indy on Monday. So, I had to drive her car a 2000 VW Lime Green Bug. Very slow. Anyway, the concert freaking kicked major ass, if anyone was there or cares Robby
Baddflash
Shitty luck man, didn't you check valve lash after installed? Very important when making changes like that but I guess that's pretty obvious now, eh?

Very important when making changes like that but I guess that's pretty obvious now, eh? Its not the valve lash that was the problem. They were still pre-loaded correctly, just the wrong length pushrods. Anyway, Im getting all new guide plates, however, they are a dealer item, so I'll get them Tuesday, and start putting it back together then Robby
