oldred98
Not yet, I am going to look for a bad coil first These computerized cars kinda s#@$ I would rather have an old 350 chevy with a holley carb, that I can work on! One can throw lotsa $$$ away changing parts that may or more often may not solve the problem.........
joey b
Where did you have the ICM tested at? The red cat is symptom that gas is running from the engine down the exhaust pipe and burning in the cat. I found this out when my 1st ICM went bad. PCGUY112887
You blocked off the intake to see if it would run? Where did you block it off at? If the throttle body was still on the car, the IAC (Idle Air Control) is open making the car idle, letting air in. IAC is located on the throttle body. What do the plugs look like? Wires? You obviously have fuel if it's cooking in your cat.
oldred98
plugs were new 2 weeks ago Yes, I put a piece of aluminum plate across the front of the throttle body just to see if I could hear any vacum leaks, and it still ran. I did not have the problem before I changed the plenum gaskets, and I can't see where I missed anything. One of those problems that just annoys me, but I will find it. (this month i hope :>)
oldred98
FIXED IT! It was the plenum bolts leaking vacum I applied flat washers between the bolt heads and the boots, and has never run better!! Thanks for all your help guys
