Spoon
'88 cutlass supreme 3.1l. fuel pressure drops 22psi in 5min after key is shut off is this normal?
Crazy K
no... maybe. hard to say. Are their any other symptoms or problems? The best you could do is a fuel system overhaul. pull the plenum, OHM the injectors, activate the fuel pump with the rail and injectors lying atop a piece of paper........ and reinstall everything with new O-rings. Spoon
fuel filter is new, is there some sort of spec. for how long the fuel pressure takes to drop off after the key is off.
mfewtrail
Does the fuel pressure drop by 22psi after 5 minutes OR does it drop down to a reading of 22psi after five minutes? I'm assuming the it's dropping off by 22psi, but I want to make sure with the way you worded that post. As for a specification, the general rule of thumb is that fuel pressure should not drop off more than 5psi in a 10 minute time period. If it drops off more than that, you have a leak somewhere(injectors, fuel pressure regulator, or check valve in the fuel pump).
